PROJECT3: NO SMOKING
i see more and more young teens smoking these days. a few of my best buddies smoke and a few of my relatives smoke. i have had uncles die from lung cancer too. back in the olden times, smoking was considered “cool & classy”. nowadays people should know better that smoking can cause cancer and is severely harmful to one’s body.

so for this poster project, i am hoping to create a more effective sign to prevent young teen from smoking and to encourage smokers to stop. to me, smoking is like using your lungs as an ashtray inside one’s body. so for the poster and logo i have expanded on the idea of lungs as an ashtray. i have cigarettes “jabbing” into the lung.

I really like you idea of “jabbing” cigarettes into the lungs. I remember I saw your image at DOC (just a quick glance
), and I thought that your poster effectively shows what smoking actually doing to the body.

LOL at the 2nd ad: “blow in her face and she’ll follow you anywhere”.
it’s funny now that we look back at these old cigarette ads that companies used the annoying smell of cigarette smoke as a selling point.
and it’s actually a well-known fact right now that it’s rude to blow cigarette smoke into someone’s face.

I think the smoking has been issue for long time. People know that if they keep smoking, they would die because of lung cancer. However, they can quit it.!!! I think it is good idea to ‘jabbing’ the cigarettes into lungs because it directly illustrates what you want to say through the poster
Can’t wait to see yours ~

I’m curious what your friends may think about the poster. I think the repetition and color choices are effective.

That second poster is priceless.. a friend of mine in Cultural Theory (online course) is using that image as a resource for her paper.
