PROJECT 2&3: UPDATES.

February 9, 2010 at 2:19 PM (DIVA 204 2010)

Panorama: I have adjusted the tone and I did some dodging to my panorama.  Hopefully the ‘line’ is gone. The image has been printed and I will be picking it up tomorrow!

Sound: after hard work, Hamish and I have finally finished adjusting our sounds into a clip that we both enjoy.

Granville Island clip

EXTRA: I finally went to watch Avatar 3D Imax last night.  & weirdly the theatre was pretty full for a Tuesday night 10pm show.  WOW, the graphics were amazing, but the story line was not that great; but the theme of the movie was pretty good.  This movie is pretty inspiring artistically to me.  The details and the way each scene is articulated was amazing.  I wish I can do the same!!

NOW: Now I must finish many projects that are all due Wednesday by 12am.  That’s because, I’m leaving for Hong Kong on Thursday for the break, WOOT!!  But I’m so stressed because I have left 60% of the work unfinished and I must cram today and tomorrow after school!

2 WEEKS LATER: When I come back I will most definintly go watch Dear John.  I was very touched watching the trailer and I teared.  So I had to go buy the book from Chapters, and guess what, I cried as I was reading the Prologue!! I am such a cry baby!! I managed to finish the book in one day and I am determined to go watch it!! I love the author Nicholas Sparks.  His other creations A Walk to Remember and The Notebook are my favourites too!!

PROJECT 2: PROCESS

January 20, 2010 at 10:52 AM (Uncategorized)

I was meaning to update last night, but sadly Telus did not update the modem and I was unable to access internet for the whole of yesterday and today!! I attempted to steal wireless from other houses, but they were all smart enough to ‘password’ their connections!!

After the tutorial last class, I discovered that I am able to use the photos that I ‘made’ at Garry Point, Steveston Village 2 weeks ago.  I have lived near that area for practically my whole life.  I moved to Richmond, Vancouver when I was 1 years old and found a house near that area when I was 2.  I go to that area from time to time; so for this panorama project I decided to ‘make’ pictures around that area because it is a part of my childhood.  I still remember the feeling when my parents would take me there to run some errands or to get food!!  I would be so excited because there is always something interesting that I discover there.  But the waters there now is very dirty, but I loved the idea of beaches.  My parents never really took me to English Bay or Kits or Wreck Beach (ahahaha…), so Garry Point was the most beach-y area that I had access to as a child.  So….

my work in progress….

PROJECT 2: PANORAMA (for DIVA)

January 13, 2010 at 10:26 AM (DIVA 204 2010)

“Making” (word used by John W.) photos outside was a very difficult task with the rainy weather that Vancouver is famous for.  Ideally I wanted to do a typical nice beach scene, where I’m strolling peacefully along the waterside and enjoying the winter breeze.  After looking at the forecast, last week, before the rain appeared, I attempted to ‘make: pictures down at Garry Point (Steveston Village, Richmond).  && unfortunately they were not as ideal and the sun was going down really quickly.  frustration, frustration, frustration.  Here are 2 of the many photos that I made during my time at Garry Point.

So then, I went to persue a different idea and apporach.  NAIL POLISH <3 YAY!!!! && I realized I have many, many bottles of nail polish in my drawer!  I have no idea why, but I love nail polish.  When I see a ‘pretty’ color, I will immediatly purchase it.  My mom does tell me that its a very ‘waste of money’ habit, but what can I do.  I always have trouble self controlling!! silly me, what a bad excuse!! But anyways, I hope that this panorama of mine will turn out well, or else I will have to start to brainstorm again and see what I can do……. here again are 2 samples that I have made.

PROJECT 4 THOUGHTS.

June 24, 2009 at 3:00 PM (CGIA 215)

i really enjoyed this project!! not only did i get to look at pretty handbags, i searched up each bag to see what the handbag is made of and why is a branded handbag so “darn” expensive!!! before i decided to do my booklet on handbags i had lots of other ideas. SHOES, BRAS, PANTIES, SUNGLASSES, UMBRELLAS, CLOTHES, ETC. aha but then i found a list on Wikipedia on handbags, so i decided to do my book on handbags.

process:

  1. look up random accessories
  2. HANDBAGS
  3. research on the 10 handbags that i decided on
  4. i used illustrator to trace on the images because i was unable to get actual photos.
  5. i thought, I LIKED THE TRACED HANDBAGS BETTER!!
  6. my goal was to create a sketchy, cartoony, simple style of the outline shape of the bag and some minor details.
  7. i love my images, the style and way i pictured them to be!!
  8. saved each image as tiff files
  9. placed them in my indesign document
  10. added the researched information and the logo/brand names of each bag!
  11. to the doc!!!
  12. my book that i am very proud of <3
  13. below is a page of my brainstorming page and some pages of my research.

PROJECT 3 THOUGHTS.

June 24, 2009 at 2:47 PM (CGIA 215)

an illustrator assignment.

again, i have used this program before in other classes.  through this class i was able to learn more about the program, like finding a way to line and clone the same image along the circumference of a circle with my boyfriend and polly! though in the end i chose a grid format because my circle idea was too similar to one of suzi’s previous student’s work.  overall i am very pleased with my final image!! though i think i can improve the logo!! i received lots of compliments on the gradient lining, and i love the gradient too!!!

process:

  1. i decided to choose a simple, common issue.
  2. i found an image of lungs and cigarettes and i used the PEN TOOL in illustrator to trace them.
  3. i copied the lungs and lined them up using a grid on illustrator and repeated the image through out.
  4. i also copied the cigarettes and pasted them on a single lung.
  5. to the doc!
  6. FINISHED!

PROJECT 2 THOUGHTS.

June 24, 2009 at 2:39 PM (CGIA 215)

a photoshop project.

my images are posted on the blog below. through this project i have learnt a bit more about this program. i had basic knowledge of photoshop from previous assignments, so i was able to explore more functions that are available on photoshop!! i was very pleased with my final image, but i wished i did a proof before printing the picture. the image did not turn out too well, and i received a lot of negative comments on the image. at that point i regretted not picking the image with my friend floating on the clouds. too bad.

process:

  1. i chose images  from my computer.
  2. at first i wanted to do a friendship photo with a “cool” background of either the clouds or the beach
  3. i used the LASSO TOOL and the ERASER to crop out my friends & i also used a pen (much easier than a mouse once i got the hang of the pen)
  4. explored the filters and transparency options!!
  5. to the doc!!
  6. BAM! MY FINAL IMAGE!!!!! (=

BLOGGING THOUGHTS.

June 24, 2009 at 2:29 PM (CGIA 215)

this idea of blogging for a class is a very interesting idea. i never thought that i would ever have to blog for a class to update my teacher and my classmates on my work in progress. like pansy said in class, “i want to keep my ideas to myself!” i think thats very true. but then again, i think we had the option of posting the progress after presenting our final product, so sharing my ideas isn’t that bad!! but one thing that worries me about blogging is that i’m scared that strangers will steal my images and use them for their own purposes!! i don’t really like the idea of other people copying my work in progress images. but its hard to prevent because with a simple right click, strangers have the option of saving my image! too bad! but over all, i think this blogging idea is very unique. the experience of showing my teacher work in progress was on a facebook group!! i thought the idea of the “facebook group” my class came up together was very humorous. usually people send files through email, but i guess there are other ways of communicating through blogs, facebook, and other internet pages!!

if i remembered right the minimum number of posts i have to have by the end of today at 3pm are 14!! yet im only on my 1oth one!! would i get marks deducted because i haven’t met the criteria? i think so! hmmmmm…. what should i do?

LAST CLASS.

June 24, 2009 at 10:50 AM (CGIA 215)

in approximately  1hr, this summer course will end & i hope that the skills that i’ve learnt through these intensive 6 weeks will have an help me exceed in the future.  i feel like i just started this class not too long ago, and within a blink of eye, the course is over.  i have had lots of fun in this class, yet my eyes are a bit tired from all the computer staring.  photoshop, illustrator, and indesign. after today’s class, i hope to have a good nights rest and sleep.

uh oh, suzi’s calling!! class time!!
